Tax Deed or Foreclosure

In the event of a tax deed or mortgage foreclosure, the county forecloses on your property due to unpaid taxes or mortgages. The opening bid at this auction is for the amount of taxes or mortgages that are owed. Most of these properties sell for a higher amount than the opening bid. The profit remaining is due to the previous owner.

Returned Mail

The county sends out surplus notification letters. Most of the time, it’s to the last address on record, so the homeowners are never informed of this surplus. Consequently, most individuals ignore this important scenario.
